2018 - 2019 News

In this 3rd trimester, science is higlighted in the CM1, CM2 and 6th class. Our brave students tried various experiments around earth, water, and fire during a rich week project.
Passionate about their workshops, they were eager to share with them!

Highly motivated by the respect for our environment, with gloves, masks and plastic bags, our valiant elementary / high school students celebrated Earth Day by picking up garbage around their school.
Then, They Analyzed What They found Studied and the impact on the environment of Each of the objects …
For instance, They Realized That, if nobody picks it up, a “Simple little” battery abandoned in kind will take 8,000 years to disappear …

Khmer New Year, Chinese New Year, and other events are celebrated at EFB to make our students aware of different cultures and religions worldwide, and participate in traditional games.

Here we are … 100 school days today! And like every year, teachers and students have celebrated the event with their achievements of these 100 days of English, mathematics, art and sport and a great contest of dictation, mental calculation, treasure hunting and other festivities🙂

A morning all the more appreciated that it also marks the beginning of a week of well deserved holidays …

After the new year of 1 January, the students celebrated Chinese New Year inspired by the traditional dragon symbol (which represents Nobility, Bravery and Luck) for this Year of the Pig!

2019 kicked off at the EFB where TV5MONDE’s Destination Francophonie has dedicated a program. Indeed, in less than 10 years, thanks to the quality of its teaching and the originality of its pedagogy Montessori + CNED, the EFB has become one of the referenced french schols in Cambodia. TV5’s beautiful documentary on Battambang and EFB can be seen here:  https://youtu.be/mXc1uH0vdhc

Thank you to the film crew and all the children, parents and school staff who came together for this great shoot!

It’s already the end of the 1st quarter at the French School of Battambang …. and the departure for the end of the calendar year!
To celebrate this transition to the New Year … and the 2nd quarter, the students offered a nice show to their parents, the result of their progress and learning since the beginning of the school year.

In this first trimester of 2018, Montessori children, as well as elementary and middle school students, took part in many creative workshops where drawing, painting and making of objects and even cooking were put in the spotlight. They feasted and made very nice works … for the pleasure of all!

On December 13th, we were very pleased to welcome Mr Lo Chay, the founder of 1001 Fontaine,  a very important NGO specialized in the treatment of water that installs 2 fountains per month in villages so that its inhabitants can benefit from clean water (to be Discovered is  https: //www.1001fontaines. com / en / on-the-field / cambodia )!

He took his time to come to the French School of Battambang to explain how water treatment is possible and important for consumption but also for hygiene.
We warmly thank him for his presentation, very informative and interesting for all of us!

Resumption of classes at the EFB this week after a fantastic internship at the circus Phare Ponleu Selpak: thanks to all the children, including the French School of Battambang, for their participation in this rich week of activities that resulted in a show much appreciated by the parents who came to applaud them in number!

To celebrate the Cambodian Water Festival (Bon Om Tuk), the students of the French School of Battambang mixed their week-project dedicated to recycling with the making of traditional Khmer lotuses.

A great opportunity for our eco-creative apprentices to enjoy an artistic workshop, to bring home the result of their colorful work and to welcome a week of deserved holidays!

At the end of the bike-oriented cycle, the CM1-CM2-6e students had the pleasure to bike around the beautiful countryside of Battambang.
A tonic getaway that delighted them despite the effort!

Since 2013, the Trophées des Français de l’Etranger have been organized to promote and reward institutions, which are actively working in social, humanitarian, cultural … fields.
Thanks to their growing success, on December 6, 2018, in Singapore, will be the first edition of the Asian Trophies.
The EFB that is well established in the local life of Battambang since 2012, that is growing year after year and that has lots of wonderful projects, could not miss this great opportunity to present the work of its team of children.
And today, we are proud to share a first victory:  the French School of Battambang, recognized for the quality of its teaching, is among the 5 finalists of these prestigious Trophies.

It’s official, in July 2019, EFB will leave the Ptea Teuk Dong locales to move into its new premises, larger, more comfortable and closer to the city center (1.6 km from Psar Nat)!
It is therefore in a better environment that the French School of Battambang will be able to accommodate its 2 kindergarten classes as well as 30 to 50 pupils of primary and secondary school.
Children will also have access to a spacious library / media library, dedicated language and music rooms, a large canteen and a private sports court.
Architects are working on the project … to be discovered very soon!

On Monday 11/12/2018, the French School of Battambang had the honor and honor to welcome Mr. Guillaume Narjollet, Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Action and Director of the French Institute of Cambodia, and Mrs. Valentine Gigaudaut, Cooperation Manager for French at the Embassy of France in Cambodia.
We are delighted to have a role in the development of this and other areas of the world, especially in this unprecedented phase of development!

All the children of Battambang love their city. They appreciate the green countryside but also its atmosphere and the wealth of what can be found at the turn of its streets.
However, not everyone is used to taking time to observe and understand the environment they live in.

So it is armed with notebooks, sketchbooks, pencils, cameras and audio / video recorders that our valiant elementary and junior students from the EFB explored our beautiful city, visiting the monuments and key places, walking the streets to decipher the diversity of landscapes and habitats.

They made a beautiful visual and sound exhibition that the parents had great pleasure to discover, amazed by what the children saw there and the way they look at their environment …

In September, the French School of Battambang had the pleasure to open its doors to 41 students! The EFB now hosts 24 children in Montessori class (3-6 years) and 17 students in elementary and middle school.

To support these young students, the school provided each class with a teacher and an assistant (specialized in FLE), and even two assistants for the Montessori class.
Two English and Khmer teachers also intervene almost daily to further enrich general education.

It is therefore under the best auspices that opens this new year which will also be that of the organizational and even educational transition since the school already aims to open a second Montessori class from the beginning of the 2019 school year and to develop new options, always more favorable to the quality of the education that is provided there.

After the new year, the school students celebrated the Chinese New Year inspired by the traditional dragon symbol (which represents Nobility, Bravery and Luck) for this Year of the Pig!
